Britain's Prince William has asked his former nanny to leave retirement to look after Prince George.
The royal and his wife, Duchess Catherine, have approached Jessie Webb and begged her to become the carer of their first child - who was born 22 days ago - even though the late Princess Diana previously sacked the child minder.
The Duchess believes she's a modern mother and is keen to do as much as she can for her son with the help of her mum Carole Middleton, but reality struck last week when William returned to his duty as an RAF search-and-rescue pilot in Anglesey, North Wales.
A source told The Sunday People newspaper: "They both accept the view that they won't be able to do it all. There is also a feeling that Kate might lay herself open to criticism if she is seen letting her mother have too much influence.
"William has fond memories of Jessie and they've put the idea to her that she comes back. I think she's very flattered."
Jessie is yet to accept the offer but seems keen to lend a helping hand to the royal couple after caring for William and Harry when they were children.
A former colleague said: "She would stand for no nonsense and would want to do things her way."
"Jessie was very kind to the boys and William will remember this. Charles was particularly fond of her.
"Diana, I think, a bit jealous because she was actually more fun. Diana used to make a big thing of the hugs but she also used to slap the boys' legs when they were naughty. Jessie didn't approve."
