Prince William

Britain's Prince William is celebrating his 31st birthday today (21.06.13).

The prince may be anticipating the birth of his first child with wife Duchess Catherine next month, but the couple will first be toasting his own birthday.

St. James' Palace has commented that William will be celebrating his birthday "privately".

The eldest son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana, William was born on June 21, 1981 at St. Mary's hospital in London - the very hospital where his own offspring will be born next month.

It was reported earlier this week that Duchess Catherine, 31, will give birth in the exclusive Lindo Wing maternity ward at the hospital in a private suite, and it's thought William will be firmly by her side throughout her labour.

William's younger brother Prince Harry, 28, was also born at St. Mary's hospital.

The Duke of Cambridge - who was christened William Arthur Philip Louis upon his birth - has grown up in the spotlight along with his brother.

The royal heirs publicly grieved the death of their mother in 1997 after she died in a horrific car crash in Paris when he was just 15.

The prince met his future wife - previously known as Kate Middleton - while a student at St. Andrew's University.
