Teaching children to be confident is one of the most important lessons you could teach them but it seems that today’s parents are struggling to pass on confidence.
Over a third of parents have admitted that they lack confidence in themselves and fear that this could lead to their children have little to no confidence in themselves.
When it comes to parents, they admitted that they have the most trouble with their confidence when interviewing for a job or returning to work.
Even the simplest of tasks, such as looking in the mirror each morning, fills parents with dread and gives their confidence a beating.
The school gates also posed a confidence threat to parents, as the rise of the ‘mumzilla’ has left them feeling pressured.
Sadly, Transform’s Feel Good Campaign showed that only 5 per cent of British parents always feeling confident.
It’s thought that the lack of confidence in parents will result in a generation of shy, introvert and insecure children.
Steven Taylor, Marketing Director at Transform Cosmetic Surgery Group says, “The research has shed real light on how British parents are feeling in everyday life and what affects our confidence on a daily basis.
“It’s shocking that so many parents feel that they have little confidence to pass on to their children and that so many situations put parents under pressure.
“Our whole campaign is centred around empowering the nation to feel good about themselves and celebrate their own achievements, however small. We want to highlight these findings to help parents feel confident in their own skin and not let the peer pressure from other parents take over their lives.
“The research is only the beginning of our Feel Good Campaign and there is more activity coming up over summer, so stay tuned for more Feel Good activities.”
