Teenagers across the UK aren't aware of daily costs like milk, eggs and bread.
T-Mobile asked over 2,000 teenagers across the UK to rate the costs of 15 everyday items and more than half failed to correctly identify the costs.
It also revealed that those aged 13 - 15 are the least money savvy.
Just under half don't know the price of a loaf of bread, with 10 per cent thinking it costs as little as 29p.Sixty-three per cent don't know the cost of a pint of milk and the same number is unaware of the price of six large eggs, with four-in-ten thinking they are £1, just over half their actual cost.
It's not only the price of staple foods od which youngsters are totally unaware; they also have no idea when it comes to other basic items in the shopping basket, like washing powder, toothpaste and Marmite.
Jasmine Birtles, financial advisor and commentator, says: "It's worrying that teenagers know so little about the cost of everyday goods. This is the generation that needs financial education the most and they certainly need more parental control when it comes to spending and saving. The more that parents can help them manage their money, the better."
