Making and sticking to a new year’s resolution is difficult as it is, but being a busy mum on top of the new goals and promises you make can be even more challenging.
New research has found that a third of UK mums feel that New Year’s resolutions add extra pressure to their already busy lives and, therefore, less than half of mums actually make them.
The survey, conducted by mum and baby brand, Cussons Mum & Me, polled 1,000 UK mums and found that just one in ten mums is likely to keep their resolutions, whilst mums in Northern Ireland are the most likely to make New Year’s resolutions.
It also discovered that mums aged 35-44 are the most likely to make New Year’s resolutions. It would also seem that with age comes wisdom, as mums aged 55 and over are the least likely to make a New Year’s promise.
A spokesperson for Cussons Mum & Me said: “The last thing busy mums need is extra pressure, so it’s no surprise that making resolutions won’t be high on the agenda this New Year for most UK mums.
"There’s so much pressure to be the ‘perfect’ mum, but Cussons Mum & Me want mums to feel good about the mothers they are, not the mothers they think they should be.”
