A new study by MyVoucherCodes has taken a closer look into what parents would put on their Christmas list if they could ask their children for anything this festive season.
The research found that ‘no public tantrums’ topped the charts of what parents want the most from their kids this Christmas, followed by ‘going to bed on time’ and ‘sleeping longer in the mornings’ in second and third place respectively.
www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk polled 1,236 parents aged 18 and over, with at least one child and initially asked them what they would ask their children for this Christmas; if they could choose anything. Those taking part were shown a list of possible responses and were able to choose multiple answers.
Furthermore, more than a third of the respondents (37 per cent) admitted that they were already ‘dreading’ their child’s behaviour over the Christmas period; with 56 per cent claiming that they were concerned about how early their child would wake up on Christmas morning.
Mark Pearson, Chairman of MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, said: “We thought it would be interesting to look into what parents would put on their Christmas list if they could ask their kids for anything at Christmas. When looking closer into what they wished for, we realised that most of the time all parents want is good behaviour from their kids.
“With the Christmas holidays just around the corner, it can be an incredibly stressful time for parents, particularly with the frenzy that presents and early excitable mornings can cause!” he said.
According to the research, the top ten Christmas wishes that parents would like to ask their children for the most this Christmas were as follows:
1. No public tantrums - 56%
2. Go to bed on time - 54%
3. Sleep longer in the morning - 49%
4. Eat vegetables - 44%
5. Eat dinner - 43%
6. Sleep in own bed - 39%
7. Stop breaking things in the house - 37%
8. Stop fighting with siblings - 31%
9. Use toilet/ potty - 25%
10. Put toys away - 21%
