It’s obvious that being a parent isn’t easy and juggling all the things running through your head can be a nightmare. Ever find yourself calling your child by the wrong name? Don’t worry; you’re not the only one.

Mother and baby toiletries range Cussons Mum & Me have compiled The Real Mum Report, after speaking to 1,000 mums who revealed their ups and downs of being a modern mum. The report reveals that 94 per cent of mums admitted to making mistakes.

Diana Griffiths from the brand said: “Mums put themselves under an inordinate amount of pressure to be the ‘perfect’ mother figure and often find out fast that it’s unachievable. After all who wouldn’t make the odd mishap when they are likely juggling family life, a relationship, job and more.”

She also revealed that: “Their friends, family and children are very unlikely to judge – or even notice – these small mishaps, so mums can give themselves a break.”

Cussons Mum & Me also discovered that a third of mums have called their child by the wrong name and 35 per cent have even forgotten to brush their children’s teeth. Oh the pressures of being at the top!

These mistakes range from giving their children fast food for tea because they didn’t want to cook, putting their children in creased clothes because they couldn’t bring themselves to do the ironing and walking out of the house with sick in their hair.

So instead of panicking about being the perfect parent, remember this isn’t even possible. In fact 61 per cent of those surveyed believe that no parent is faultless and only 6 per cent believe they didn’t make any mistakes.

So don't worry, nobody's perfect and there isn't a rulebook on parenting, so just make it up as you go along!
