England’s latest rugby star, and recently crowned Aviva Premiership Player of the Season, Tom Wood, is lending his help and support to a new five week programme - ‘Tackling Numbers’ - which will use rugby to improve the maths skills of thousands of school children in England.
Our video shows the rugby star running through several activities with Year 4 pupils in the classroom and then out on the playing field.
All the exercises are designed to help children improve their basic numeracy and financial skills through bringing maths to life in a practical and enjoyable way.
The scheme will be taken up by over 800 schools in England between this season and 2013.
Tackling Numbers is a joint initiative delivered by England’s 12 Premiership Rugby Clubs and MBNA, Europe’s largest credit card provider.
