Children are looking for more adventures this summer

Children are looking for more adventure in their lives, according to new research.

The study found that 85 per cent find their lives mundane and would like something fun and exciting to happen in their lives.

The statistics highlight that half of children have never camped out in their back garden or taken part in any adventure sports.

However, parents feel the pressure, with 40 per cent admitting that they don't have the time or money to arrange adventurous experiences for their child. But four out of five do admit that it's crucial for their children to have a chance to take part in these things.

Concern for a child's safety lacking of confidence to cope with new activites is what holds parents back from doing these things.

"Experiencing outdoor adventures cannot be underestimated. As a kid, I remember the excitement of getting outdoors and having my own mini adventures," recalls Nick Baker, adventurer and TV wildlife presenter.

The survey was conducted by Elatoplast to launch their new campagin, Adventure 4 Kids!

"Having adventures and learning through experience is an essential part of childhood," says Nick.

"From building my first tree house to staying up late to watch the stars - it's these experiences that stay with you for life. Allowing children to experience risk in a controlled environment helps to develop their ability to face risks in the future and builds their confidence."

So what will you be doing with your child this summer that they've never done before? Let us know in the comments below.
