A primary school has stopped kids from creating Mother's Day cards, because they might upset others in their class who don't have a mum.

It's head teacher Helen Starkey who has finished the traditional craft making session because a small number of children have either been bereaved or have lost contact with their mothers.

All 357 pupils at Johnston Primary School in Carmarthen, West Wales, have been informed that they won't be allowed to produce cards for the special day on March 18th.

Mrs Starkey is quoted as saying in the Sun: “I have taken this decision because it is insensitive to pupils separated from their mothers.

“More than five per cent of children here are. In our dealings with these children we have to exercise great sensitivity.”

However, one mum has also added: “Nobody wants to be hard-hearted to kids without a mum, but it means that 95 per cent of pupils are deprived of a traditional activity.”
