UK children seem to be missing the point when it comes to Mother’s Day, with many failing to find the way to their mums’ heart, according to a survey by leading UK florist, Flowers Direct.
Buying nothing for mum on her special day came out top in a poll of the worst Mother’s Day presents, just above ‘useful’ gifts. The worst gifts were garden ornaments, kitchen utensils and an apron- all a definite no-no in the eyes of mum.
This proves once again that it’s the thought that counts when it comes to presents for mum. Breakfast in bed topped the polls for the best Mother’s Day present, followed closely by a home-cooked Sunday lunch and having the family together on her special day.
Spa pamper packages also proved popular, showing that mums really do appreciate being spoiled and given the chance to relax and unwind, escaping from the pressures of every day life.
Commenting on the survey, Jonathan Wall, chief executive at Flowers Direct, said: "Mother’s Day provides the perfect opportunity to show your mum that you care. Treat her to something special this year, whether that be a simple breakfast in bed or a day at the spa, putting in that little bit of extra effort will be appreciated."
This is the day when every mother should get the chance to relax and enjoy being looked after by her family so make sure you take the weight off her feet, and give her a Mother’s Day to remember."
