TV ballroom star teaches pupils how to dance

Strictly Come Dancing star Louise Lytton returns to her old school, along with her dancing partner Vincent Simone, to add a bit of sparkle to a PE class and show the children a different way to keep fit.

The special lesson, with 30 pupils from St Peter’s and St Paul’s primary school in Islington, London, was held to mark the launch of Cinderella: A Twist in Time on Disney DVD. One of the world’s best loved fairytales sees a new twist in the tale of the dancing duo Cinderella and Prince Charming.

Louisa, soon to be swapping her sequins for Sun Hill on ITV1 as PC Beth Green in The Bill, was a pupil at the school in 1990's. She jumped at the chance to spend a morning with the pupils and share some of her skills.

She said: “I absolutely loved learning to ballroom dance. The training was really hard work but it is so much fun and the best way to keep fit. I can’t wait to get the kids having a go, plus I get to wear one of the beautiful dresses again, just like Cinderella! It’s not just for girls though, Vincent is a brilliant professional and plans to show the boys what they can get out of it too.”

The lesson involved a short introduction from Louisa and world champion Vincent, followed by the chance for each pupil to try some of the ballroom steps.

Cinderella: A Twist in Time arrives on Disney DVD from 12th February.
