Specialist record company Eighty Sixth Floor Music has produced an album of 100 traditional and contemporary spooky Halloween songs, which is a perfect soundtrack for any Halloween party. In celebration of the album, they have put together some great ideas for Halloween.

Here is a collection of tips to make sure your Halloween party is a scary success:

Spooky Sounds

What better way to kick off some freaky fun than with a collection of spooky Halloween music? Providing the ideal soundtrack for telling ghost stories, Halloween music can get the terrifying tone right.

No party would be complete without a collection of Halloween songs which are perfect for ghoulish games and fun dancing.

Halloween Party Food

One of the best things about Halloween for children is the food, and there are many great recipes for Halloween cakes or punch.

You could use food colouring as fake blood for costumes as well as on your food.  Of course now every Halloween party needs a pumpkin, which is great fun to carve with children prior to the event. You can also roast the pumpkin seeds with salt as a tasty snack for the party.

You could really have some fun with Halloween themed food and drink, as it’s the one time of the year when your food is allowed to look horrible. Make your own swamp juice by mixing cola with orange juice or add food colouring to lemonade.

Halloween Decoration

There are some great Halloween decorations available at the moment.  You don’t need to freak yourself out by going on a spooky spending spree to get a great Halloween effect.  Some simple Silly string and bunting will help to create a party atmosphere.

There are many retailers, which sell Halloween themed bunting, however you could always make it yourself which would also provide great entertainment for children prior to the Halloween party.

You could set the mood with the lighting with just a few candles or alternatively drape a red cloth over a lamp for a dramatic effect.

Decorations for Halloween can include scary ornaments such as a skull or a few plastic bats to hang from the ceiling.

Halloween costumes

For the ultimate Halloween party you need great Halloween costumes. You can either make them yourself or buy them.

Some parties set a theme and this allows children to make their own spin on a traditional Halloween outfit. This is a great Halloween idea for kids who love dressing up and getting involved.

Traditional Halloween costumers tend to feature witches, vampires, ghosts, Frankenstein, monsters, zombies and the devil.  Face paint is vital for the majority of these costumes.

Games for Halloween

Fun Halloween activities could include apple bobbing, telling ghost stories and even a treasure hunt. One activity could be to hold a competition for the best-dressed partygoer.

To raise the scare factor non-Halloween related games such as musical chairs you could turn the lights off.  If that could run the risk of upsetting children, why not just leave some scary Halloween music playing in the background of a game of ‘sleeping lions’ to creep out the children.
