* Listen Up: Talking and listening to your child no matter what they are talking about will help them to feel heard and valued. Positive communication is vital for a child’s confidence and is particularly beneficial on a social level

* Game Playing:  Play a walking scavenger hunt. Once or twice a week, write ten items your kids have to look out for on their journey to school. You can make it more exciting by rewarding the winner!

* Walk the walk: We should all be spending two hours outside in natural light each and every day. This helps to produce Vitamin D; which in turn ensures that we feel happier in mood. Consider walking the kids to school it’s the perfect opportunity to start the sunlight meter running

* Ready, Steady, Spell:  Challenge your child to a Spelling Bee on your way to school. It’s an excellent and fun way for you to improve your kids’ level of literacy

* Smiling Happy People: Remember that attitude is everything! If you decide that you are going to enjoy the school run and are willing to make that time precious; you can expect a relaxed, responsible and active child in return, who will grow to use every minute to their advantage.
