UK mums spend a week making Christmas perfect for their families each year whilst their partners put their feet up.
Research carried out by Galaxy Gift for You reveals a third of mums invest more than 40 hours planning and preparing for Christmas.
With many British mums juggling full or part time jobs at the same time, their role as Festive Fairies could earn them an extra £499. Meanwhile, the average male partner contributes less than five hours.
Unfortunately, to add to their frustration, one in five women say their partner is no good at choosing presents, which explains why 13 per cent admit they don’t feel appreciated during the festive season.
However, despite the stresses and strains that come with the holiday season a third of UK Mums would not change a thing about Christmas, with many relishing in the fact they’ve made the season a success yet again despite the hard work.
According to the findings, planning for the big day in December starts before summer ends with over a quarter kick starting preparations in September. One in 12 will buy presents for their loved ones as early as January, eleven months before the big day.
A Mars spokesperson, says: "Britain’s mums are clearly the true heroes of Christmas, making a huge effort to ensure December 25th is the perfect day for their families."
