The 70-year-old - real name Paul Gadd - is facing a total of 10 charges relating to alleged crimes committed between 1970 and 1980 on three girls.

He's accused of one attempted rape, seven indecent assaults and one charge of unlawful sex with a girl under the age of 13.

He's also accused of plying the youngster with alcohol with the intent to "stupefy or overpower" her to have sex with him between January and May in 1977.

Glitter found fame in the 70s as part of the glam rock scene, scoring number one hits with 'I Love You Love Me Love', 'Always Yours' and 'I'm The Leader of the Gang (I Am)'.

He denies all the charges against him.

Appearing briefly yesterday at London's Southwarfk Crown Court, he spoke only to confirm his name during the five-minute hearing, before Judge Alistair McCreath adjourned the case until today.

As the musician attempted to get into a taxi there was a scuffle between his security and a group of photographers.
