With three top 10 singles, a top 10 album and one million record sales, chart topping DJ Ironik returns with new independent promo track and video 'Soul Mate' (produced by Rude Kid), ahead of a new EP release later this year.
The 24 year old DJ/Producer/Rapper from North London, best known for producing a mix of RnB, pop & hip-hop, has mentored and produced for some of the biggest new names in British pop including Chip (Chipmunk), Tinie Tempah, Wiley and Aggro Santos.
His 2009 debut album 'No Point in Wasting Tears' spawned hits everywhere from India to Sweden, squeezing in over 370 performances in to his hectic schedule in the last two years alone, including performances at Glastonbury, T4 On The Beach (main-stage), MOBO Awards, National Movie Awards, iTunes Festival, 02 Arena, 02 Academy venues and even Buckingham Palace for an exclusive performance for The Queen.
From first single 'So Nice' in 2007, to a signing with Warner Music Group subsidiary Asylum records in 2009, Ironik released his debut album alongside singles 'Stay with Me' (number 5 in the UK singles chart), 'I Wanna Be Your Man' and 'Tiny Dancer' (number 3 in the UK singles chart).
The MOBO awards-nominated 'Best UK Act' has famous fans including Tom Cruise, Sir Elton John (due to the collaboration on 'Tiny Dancer') and even Prince Charles. In 2010 'Tiny Dancer' featuring Elton John and Chipmunk was also used in the film 'Street Dance' soundtrack and was quoted as an influence for the concept.
Ironik experienced an out-pouring of press-attention and public sympathy when he became the victim of a stabbed attack in November 2010. While returning to his home in North London from a gig, two men attacked him for his jewellery.
Ironik said of the stabbing: "It was something I've never experienced in my life before. Something that I've spoke about in a lot of my records.. I find it very low that someone has to go and take what you have and what you work for."
With over 90 thousand followers on Twitter, 58 million views on Youtube and 300 thousand friends on Facebook and MySpace combined, this year looks like it will be another big one for Ironik. A new EP drops later this year featuring 'Soul Mate'.
