London based singer/songwriter Martika L.A. releases her debut single 'Give Me Your Love' via Soko Records, in December.
Written by Martika L.A. and produced by Eagle Eye. For her debut solo project Martika L.A. filmed the new music video for pop track 'Give Me Your Love' in the heat and sunshine of Jamaica - capturing the carnival-vibe and hedonism of the track
in her safari-inspired fashion ensembles.
Martika has been living and breathing music from a young age, having been born into a music orientated family. Her Mother was a backing singer for Sting and Faithless and her Father a bass player for Rebel MC and Urban Species.
As well as being a keen martial artist (another talent that runs through her family), Martika is a talented piano player and dancer.
Growing up, influences from artists such as Prince and Aaliyah helped Martika to explore the kind of artist she wanted to be.
With a mixed heritage of Ghanaian, English, Greek and Dominican, the natural beauty was first discovered on Myspace in 2009 and fast tracked into girl group RD aka Ruff Diamondz.
Having recorded and performed as part of the group for over two years, Martika experienced supporting JLS on their UK sell out tours and performing in front of tens of thousands of fans.
Since departing the group she has been focused on writing and recording material for her solo album.
Now armed with a new sophistication and mature sound, Martika L.A. presents her first solo project and invites her fans to join her for the next chapter.
Remixes courtesy of Flukes (House remix) and an acoustic remix by Kevin McPherson are
released as part of the single package.
