With Happy New Year and Girlwise already released this year Jamie Hartman has been receiving plenty of airplay as well as a whole host of praise, including from us here at FemaleFirst.
This week sees him release his first album under his own name and he has brought together a collection of songs that not only show off his vocal talents but also his song writing ability.
Happy New Year is the opening track on the album and it really is the perfect way to kick off the album as it is an upbeat track that has a real optimistic feel about what is to come - and you should be optimistic about the rest of the album.
Girlwise is another of the really upbeat tracks on the record, it was great to see this released as a single, as it really is as catchy as hell.
Hartman has always been a great lyricist and with Girlwise that trend continues as he sings about finding love and being blown away by this person in the early stages of the relationship.
The production on this album is really quite simple Hartman’s vocals is allowed to take centre stage and it is not drowned out by over the top rhythms and beats.
A great example of this if track three One Day When I’m a Memory where Hartman’s earthy tones really do carry the track, supported beautifully by some great electric guitar work; so delicately played that it doesn’t dominate the song and become the focal point.
And Hartman doesn’t just sing about love on this record but he also draw on his own personal experiences; in American Hope he draws on his move to American and the dreams and the hopes that he has of his time there.
Before I Close My Eyes is one of the most personal tracks on the album for Hartman as he sings about his baby daughter.
Hartman has always been a great wordsmith and this album is further proof that he just has a knack of writing the pop perfect pop song - it’s not wonder other music artists are queuing around the block to work with him.
But it’s not only the pop element of his music that he gets spot on but he also writes very emotional and moving tunes - this is an album that you can really get swept away with.
III is a great album that shows Jamie Hartman off at his vocal and lyrical best - really looking forward to the next.
