Rap icon Grandmaster Flash will be honoured with the Living Legend prize at the upcoming Urban Music Awards.
The Message hitmaker will pick up the tribute at the July bash at the Highline Ballroom, Manhattan in recognition of his highly successful 40-year career.
Flash, real name Joseph Saddler, was chosen for the award after being voted for by 175,000 hip-hop fans across the world - and he is humbled by the support.
He says, "I am honoured to receive this award and I can't wait to attend the awards show in July. The Urban Music Awards is different from all other awards shows because it represents the whole world.
"Our music is main stream and we have to connect with our fans from all around the world to build an even bigger community so thank you to all my fans worldwide and the UMA for this opportunity."
