Sir Mick Jagger studied four years' worth of Glastonbury DVDs to prepare for The Rolling Stones' headlining slot this weekend.
The 69-year-old singer has poured over every main stage performance since 2008 to make sure the 'Street Fighting Man' rockers master the famous Pyramid Stage on their festival debut at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset, South West England, on Saturday night (29.06.13).
He said: "Festivals are great to be at, but not always the easiest things to play. You've got to really work at that bit, but I think it's going to be a lot of fun. I've been working hard."
Jagger also revealed he and his bandmates - Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts - have put a lot of thought into their setlist
The iconic frontman has been meticulous in picking tracks from their 50-year career and especially the first song of the set.
He told Radio Times magazine: "We're looking forward to it and I've been thinking about the setlist for the day and how we're going to deal with it. You've got to try and make sure the first number really cooks... gets everyone confident. If it doesn't, you've got to put it behind you. So that first number's got to be something you're super confident with. It's no good doing a slightly unknown number that the audience isn't going to deal with."
Jagger also revealed The Stones have been rehearsing up to "eight or nine hours a day" ahead of their performance.
The Glastonbury festival kicks off today (28.06.13) with the Arctic Monkeys headlining the first night.
