Proving that she really is a star, Susan Boyle has become the latest ’celebrity’ to check into famed clinic, The Priory.
The Britain’s Got Talent singer - who shocked the world on Saturday night by coming second to dance group Diversity in the final of the competition - has said to have taken the runner’s up crown badly and has suffered an “emotional breakdown.”
The 48 year-old apparently started acting strangely at her London hotel after the final and prompted producers of the show to contact the police. A source tells the Telegraph, "She'd been at the hotel for a few days, but since Saturday's final had been acting strangely, causing a bit of a stir. She didn't look well - she looked lost, not all there."
Susan was taken by ambulance to the clinic at about 6pm last night after doctors were called to assess her under the Mental Health Act, Scotland Yard said. But initial reports claim that the singer has been hospitalised due to exhaustion rather than any serious mental condition.
In fact, she took the news of second place so badly, it is believed that she ran down a corridor shouting "I hate this show." The alleged outburst follows Susan’s shock second place in the BGT show, as she was the initial favourite to win the competition.
Britain's Got Talent producers said Miss Boyle was; "exhausted and emotionally drained. She has been seen by her private GP who supports her decision to take a few days out for rest and recovery. We offer her our ongoing support and wish her a speedy recovery."
A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said: "Police were called at approximately 6pm to a central London hotel to doctors assessing a woman under the Mental Health Act. Police and ambulance attended. The woman was taken voluntarily by ambulance to a clinic. At the request of doctors, police accompanied the ambulance."
Either way, once Su-Bo get’s out, it is estimated that Miss Boyle could still earn more than £5 million from television, advertising and record deals if she pursues a singing career.
