Rocker RONNIE WOOD's broadcasting career has been given a big boost - he has won a top honour at the Sony Radio Academy Awards in London.
This award for Ronnie Wood, Frank Skinner and Robbie Savage who also achieved this award for the radio industry's equivalent of the Oscars, the Sony Radio Academy Awards.
The Sony Radio Academy Awards will mark its 30th year in 2011. It is an awards ceremony, without parallel in the radio world, that continues to recognise the very best of UK radio, nationally, regionally and locally.
The Rolling Stones star's show on Britain's Absolute Classic Rock radio station has become a hit among listeners and critics alike, and on Monday (09 May 11) he scooped the Music Radio Personality of the Year prize during a ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel.
Speaking about Wood's "really innovative programme", the judges said, "Ronnie has lived the life of a thousand men and you feel like a child sitting at his feet as he unfolds his rarefied story book and recounts his great adventures. His use of his guitar and harmonica to introduce the varied music and stories make this a unique and award winning show."
