Fans of 1960s pop icons The Mamas & The Papas are in for a shock - founder John Phillips’ daughter has revealed she was 17 when her father introduced her to hard drugs.
Actress Mackenzie Phillips, who pleaded guilty to one count of felony cocaine possession last year, opened up about her first heroin experience during a recently taped episode of TV talk show Oprah, which will air in America on Wednesday.
She claims her father, California Dreamin' hitmaker John Phillips, was the first person to drive a needle into her arm and "shoot me up".
The 49 year old says, "My father shot me up for the first time... He tied me off and he put the needle into my arm and pushed the plunger in, and he missed, he missed the vein and my whole arm went numb. He seemed a little nervous but at the same time it seemed very commonplace."
