After hoards of auditions and a week of semi- finals, tonight saw Britain’s Got Talent reach its nail biting climax as the UK’s top acts fought it out to perform for The Queen.
Hosts Ant and Dec kept the tension at fever pitch as they announced that Susan Boyle, Julian Smith and Diversity were the top three acts in the competition, before dragging the whole thing out for a little bit longer before finally announcing the results in reverse order.
Julian Smith bowed out in a respectable third place, and despite the fact that we all thought Susan Boyle was going to walk right into first place, it was Diversity who were crowned the victors.
They looked just as shocked as most of the audience, and graciously accepted their prize whilst Susan Boyle looked as baffled as ever dancing around and shaking her booty as though she didn’t really know what was going on… but we don’t half love her.
What’s more, there’s little doubt that Su-Bo is going to have a long and prosperous career in front of her now, whether on stage or at home in Scotland with her precious cats, and although she came into the show as the underdog, it was the nine other acts who were the underdogs tonight after Susan’s chaotic reign over the media over the past month.
Although it’s a shame that the likes of Shaheen Jafargholi, Aidan Davis and Stavros Flatley missed out on the top prize, there were hoards of great acts this year, and each act can leave the competition with their heads held high and I am sure that these acts shouldn’t see tonight as the end of the road for them, in fact, this is just the beginning.
