Dionne Bromfield has released a video mixtape to showcase her talent ahead of her album being released.
The singer has been mentored by Amy Winehouse, and admits she takes style tips from the star.
"She’s quite a style icon. I mean the ballet shoes, she’s definitely got everyone wearing them - they only started selling them in Topshop after they became Amy's signature look. It’s so cool."
Dionne does admit that there are pressures on young girls to look good. However, she adds: "As long as you are brought up to be self-confident then there's nothing wrong with enjoying wearing make-up and having your hair straightened and stuff, it's just experimenting.
You grow up you see your mum and sisters putting on make up so you want to too, because young girls just want to grow up. There's always a lot of pressure on girls though, more than on boys, that's what it's always been like. Some people like wearing make up, some people don’t.
You should only do it for yourself. I don't like wearing make-up when I'm not at work, although I'm definitely a girly girl."
The singer will be releasing Good For The Soul next month, and has a lot planned for the summer.
"Well, I've got loads of summer dates - V Festival, The Big Chill, supporting the Wanted, and I have a massive surprise up my sleeve that I'm not allowed to announce yet! Watch this space!"
Dionne Bromfield’s new album Good For The Soul is due 4th July 2011. Pre-order on Play.com now where 1,000 signed copies are up for grabs.
