It’s almost time for Coachella 2022 to kick off at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, and this year looks set to be a blast. Not only have we got Harry Styles, Billie Eilish and Swedish House Mafia with The Weeknd headlining (the latter taking over after Kanye West pulled out), there are also an endless number of amazing hidden gems too. Here are just a few.
Rina Sawayama
Saturday April 16 & 23
We fell in love with this Japan-born singer when she dropped her debut album Sawayama via Dirty Hit in 2020. This year she’s returned with two collaborative singles; Follow Me with Pabllo Vittar and Beg for You with Charli XCX; and we can’t wait to hear more from her. Her appearance at Coachella will mark her first at the festival, and she’s also due to play Primavera Sound in June.
Holly Humberstone
Saturday April 16 & 23
As well as performing at Coachella, 22-year-old British singer Holly Humberstone will be supporting Olivia Rodrigo on her The Sour Tour as well as girl in red on her Make It Go Quiet Tour. She’s yet to even release her debut album but her second EP The Walls Are Way Too Thin was one of the best things we heard last year. This year she’s dropped singles London Is Lonely and I Would Die 4 U.
Amyl and the Sniffers
Friday April 15 & 22
These Aussie punks dropped their second album Comfort to Me last year, featuring the awesome single Guided by Angels. They’re quickly accelerating from local hits to worldwide adoration, and we’re sure their Coachella appearance will only assist in that journey.
The Regrettes
Friday April 15 & 22
Giving us serious 90s riot grrrl vibes are LA four-piece The Regrettes. As of April 8th 2022, they are three albums in with new album Further Joy becoming one of our favourites of the year so far. They’ve played festivals the likes of SXSW, Summerfest and Riot Fest, and their listing for Coachella will no doubt be one of their biggest shows yet.
Giselle Woo and the Night Owls
Friday April 15 & 22
This Spanish rock band is local to Coachella (see their track Coachella Gold) which is only one reason why they got the gig; another reason is that their debut album Everything is super addictive. It comes three years after their epic Gemini EP, and they’re just getting cooler and cooler. Don’t miss the opportunity to see these guys in their natural habitat.
Beabadoobee
Sunday April 17 & 24
Her 2020 debut Fake It Flowers was a refreshing glance back at 90s slacker rock which we played non-stop for several weeks. With her forthcoming second album Beatopia coming up this Summer, we’re definitely excited to see if she’s moved in a different direction. She’s definitely got to go on your must-watch Coachella list.

Whipped Cream
Saturday April 16 & 23
In case you have the urge to dance (and I mean DANCE), Whipped Cream has got you covered. Also known as Caroline Cecil, she’s a Canadian DJ with an amazing penchant for experimental electronic sounds. Her latest singles are this year’s Cry and Hold Up with Moore Kismet, Big Freedia and Uniiqu3.
