Disney is already having a fantastic 2016 at the box office and Pete's Dragon is another film that will be coming our way this summer.
Pete's Dragon is a re-imagining of the 1977 film of the same name and sees David Lowery back in the director's chair for his first feature since Ain't Them Bodies Saints back in 2013.
The movie will mix great live-action performance with some stunning special effects and it is one of the summer movies that I cannot wait to see.
We are going to have to wait until August until Pete's Dragon finally hits the big screen, but the brand new trailer for the film has been unveiled. Take a look:
Bryce Dallas Howard leads an all-star cast as Robert Redford, Karl Urban, Wes Bentley and Oona Laurence are all set to star.
The movie will also introduce us to the acting talents of Oakes Fegley, who will take on the central role of Pete. The young actor has been in television series Person of Interest and Boardwalk Empire, but this is the biggest film of his career.
For years, old wood carver Mr. Meacham (Redford) has delighted local children with his tales of the fierce dragon that resides deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. To his daughter, Grace (Howard), who works as a forest ranger, these stories are little more than tall tales... until she meets Pete (Fegley).
Pete is a mysterious 10-year-old with no family and no home who claims to live in the woods with a giant, green dragon named Elliott. And from Pete's descriptions, Elliott seems remarkably similar to the dragon from Mr. Meacham's stories.
With the help of Natalie (Laurence), an 11-year-old girl whose father Jack (Bentley) owns the local lumber mill, Grace sets out to determine where Pete came from, where he belongs, and the truth about this dragon.
Disney has already enjoyed huge success with the likes of The Jungle Book and Zootropolis this year and Pete's Dragon is going to be another big hit for the studio.
Pete's Dragon is released 12th August.
