From the producers of critically-acclaimed films Get Out and the Purge, and from the mind of the Saw and Insidious creator Leigh Whannell (who serves as writer and director) comes a hyper violent vision of the future in Upgrade. This week, the stunning and impressive first trailer for the movie has been released, which you can now check out below:

Following the brutal mugging of his wife which ends in her being murdered and him being completely paralysed, Grey Trace (Logan Marshall-Green) is approached by a billionaire inventor with an experimental cure that is said to “upgrade” his body. Taking the opportunity to transform his life, he has an Artificial Intelligence implant called STEM “installed” that gives him physical abilities beyond anything human life has ever experienced.

Utilising his new talents to claim vengeance against those who gunned down the love of his life, he’ll come to quickly realise that his new life of course comes with its own consequences. Every action has a reaction, and while he starts out as the hunter, he could rapidly become the hunted.

Marshall-Green (who could be a shoe-in for Tom Hardy if you ask us!) has previously starred in television series Damnation as Creeley Turner, and 2016’s Quarry as Mac Conway, aka the titular star. This however will arguably be his biggest role to-date, and we can’t wait to see what he brings to the big screen a little later this year.

Upgrade comes to cinemas across the UK on August 31, 2018.
