This year (2022), cinema has a lot to offer us, with new Jordan Peele movie Nope releasing soon, and the Marvel world stirring up a storm. However, the comedy world has a brand new entry for us, too.
The Lost City is an upcoming action-adventure feature starring Sandra Bullock (Bird Box), Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter franchise), and of course, Channing Tatum (Dog).
The film sees shy, reclusive author Loretta Sage (Bullock) brave the world around her and go on a tour to promote her new book.
Loretta isn’t alone on this trip, however, as cover model for all her romance novels, Alan (Tatum), aka Dash, the hero from the author’s stories, has come with her and is beloved by pretty much everyone.
However, Loretta is kidnapped by Fairfax (Radcliffe), who wants her to take him to the Lost City from her latest book, so he can take the treasure that lies there for himself.
Alan, wanting to prove he’s more than just a (extremely handsome) cover model, takes it upon himself to save his friend. The pair must then traverse the dense jungle around them, which is much easier said than done.
Yesterday (March 15th, 2022), Paramount Pictures released another behind-the-scenes clip for the movie, this time focusing on Tatum and his transformation into the handsome hero, Dash.
“I think Dash is out of his mind,” said Tatum when discussing his character. Bullock chimed in to say that, when Tatum emerged from the dressing room his “hair exited first”.
“He’s a brilliant actor”, stated Radcliffe, “some of the stuff he does as Dash in this movie... there’s a moment where he blows out a candle, and then continues to use it to search for light.”
Tatum seemed to have mixed feelings about his long, blonde wig at first, but then he claimed that he “wasn’t ready for what it was going to do for me, like, spiritually.”
The actor then said that the wig essentially was Dash, because as soon as it landed on his head, Dash arrived and stole the show.
The Lost City will premiere in cinemas on April 13th, 2022.
The Lost City seems like a somewhat silly movie, but one that’s got great actors, a funny, interesting plot, and great visuals that have definitely drawn me in.
Despite my wish to see many, if not all of the big releases in the cinema this year, I would still go to see The Lost City based on the cast alone.
The hilarious clips Paramount have been releasing have only made me more excited to check out Tatum and Bullock’s newest flick.
