I don't know about you, but I was excited when I heard that a sequel to The Incredibles was finally in the pipeline... however, we are going to have to wait until 2019 until we see it hit the big screen.
Disney have announced that The Incredible 2 will hit the big screen in the U.S. on 21st June 2019 - an official release date for the UK has yet to be revealed.
The Incredibles was released back in 2004 and is a movie that is already eleven years old. However, we will see Brad Bird back in the director's chair and he has started work on the screenplay.
Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Samuel L. Jackson, Sarah Vowell, and Spencer Fox voiced the characters of Mr Incredible, Elastigirl, Frozone, Violet Parr, and Dash Parr - however, there is currently no word on who will be back for this second film.
The Incredibles was both a critical and commercial hit when it was released in 2004, going on to gross in excess of $631 million at the global box office. The movie went on to win the Best Animated Feature and Best Sound Editing Oscars, as well as being nominated for Best Original Screenplay and Best Achievement in Sound Mixing.
It's hard to understand why a sequel has not gone into production earlier as The Incredibles was obviously a monster hit for the studio.
The Incredibles 2 will be the twenty first Pixar movie and is just one that the studio has announced is in the pipeline.
As well as an Incredibles sequel, we are also going to be treated to Cars 4 and Toy Story 4, which are due to hit the big screen in 2017 and 2018. We already know that Finding Dory is set to hit the big screen next year.
The Incredibles 2 is released 21st June 2019.
