Tyler Bates is set to return to compose the music for Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol 2.
Bates' work on the music of Guardians of the Galaxy played a huge role in helping make the film what it was and I am delighted to hear that he will be back to work on the second film.
Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol 2 will see Bates reunite with writer and filmmaker James Gunn as he returns to the director's chair for the already highly anticipated sequel.
Since Guardians of the Galaxy, Bates has gone on to work on scores for movie John Wick as well as TV series Kingdom and Salmen. He is currently working on new movie The Public, which is written and directed by Emilio Estevez.
Gunn has already revealed that filming on the new movie will be in February in Atlanta and says that is it going to be a more emotional ride this time as the film will focus on the relationship between Peter Quill and his father.
It is yet to be revealed who Quill's father is - although it was teased throughout the first film - and it hasn't been announced which actor will be taking on that role.
Speaking of casting, Chris PRatt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, and Dave Bautista are all expected to return but there's still no word on any of the new faces and characters that will be joining the cast list.
Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol 2 is set to be one of three Marvel films to hit the big screen in 2017 and will kick off the year ahead of Spider-Man and Thor: Ragnarok.
We wait to see if any of the Guardians of the Galaxy characters will make an appearance in Avengers: Infinity War. Pratt did hint earlier this year that we could see him reprise the role of Quill outside of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.
Marvel's Phase Three of movies is set to get underway next year with Captain America: Civil War in the spring, before we are introduced to Doctor Strange in the autumn.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is released 28th April 2017.
