Eastwood is "honoured" to be a part of the eighth installment of the 'Fast and Furious' franchise because it gives him a chance to pay tribute to his friend, the late Paul Walker, who played former police officer Brian O'Conner in the movie series until his death in 2013.

Scott told E! News: "It's an honour. Paul was one of my best friends and to add to his story, to be a part of his family and all the great people and cast that are there, it's like a dream come true."

And Scott was also excited to work with Charlize Theron, a fellow newcomer to the series.

He said: "She's fantastic, she's just amazing."

But asked if they have any love scenes together, he just laughed and said: "Rewrite! Rewrite!"

Scott previously described Paul as being like an "older brother" to him.

He wrote on Instagram: "Paul was a close friend of mine. We surfed together, traveled together, and he was a huge role model and influencing figure in my life when I was younger. He still is. He was an older brother to me."

And the 'Suicide Squad' actor vowed to make his late pal "proud" with his role in the movie.

Referring to Paul's co-star and close friend Vin Diesel, he added: "Vin - thank you for the support and the insight. Paul - I am going to make you proud."

Scott also shared his excitement at joining the long-running franchise, writing: "It's hard to put into words how excited I am for the next Fast & Furious. To me, the series is so much more than just a franchise. It's a legacy. These great actors who have been in it together for so long have become a family. I absolutely can't wait to join it (sic)."
