Shudder, a platform made for horror content only, has released an eerie trailer for their new film, Mosquito State.
AMC Networks’ Shudder is a premium streaming video service, giving members the best selection in genre entertainment, covering horror, thrillers and the supernatural. Shudder’s library is expanding with not only films, but TV series and originals too.
The platform’s content is available on most streaming devices in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Australia and New Zealand.
Shudder also has a brilliant system to showcase its genres, which range from Horror 101, Thrill Me, Borderlands, Tales of the Supernatural, and more. The streaming service also has an Essential Classics section, home to films such as Halloween (1978).
Shudder is home to films such as The Mortuary Collection, and series such as Creepshow. Their service is filled to the brim with spooky content, and this August (2021), it will be adding yet another creepy feature to its roster.
Mosquito State will soon be added to Shudder; it was an official selection of the Venice Film Festival in 2020, and was awarded the Bisato d’Oro for Best Cinematography as well as Best Special Effects at the Sitges Film Festival 2020.
The day before the financial crisis of 2007, in a suave penthouse overlooking Central Park in New York City (NYC), obsessed and troubled Wall Street data analyst Richard Boca (Beau Knapp) sees ominous and mysterious patterns.
Boca’s computer models seem to be misbehaving and causing chaos, and his apartment is riddled with mosquitos breeding and multiplying; they will be the ones to witness this man’s psychological breakdown.
Consumes with the work he is doing, Boca rarely strays far from his infested apartment or bright white office. However, when he decides to attend a party for the company he works for hosted by his boss, he makes not one, but two acquaintances.
Lena (Charlotte Vega) and one rogue mosquito seek a seat at the root of Boca’s mind, altering his very being in profound and haunting ways.
The trailer shows us just enough for Boca’s odd yet creepy tale to stick in the minds of horror fans; the music is quietly erratic, showing that Boca has a calm fear about him that may be the end of him.
We also see his apartment painted with red light and the swarm of insects flying through Boca’s home; the imagery is definitely something to admire.
The Wrap have called this movie ‘Bold and weird’, Indiewire has stated that this film ‘Holds your attention like a bite that you can’t stop yourself from itching’.
Mosquito State will arrive on Shudder on August 26th, 2021.
