Denzel Washington, an actor who has starred in films such as Flight (2012) and The Equalizer (2014), will be directing the upcoming movie, A Journal for Jordan, a tale of a soldier and his undeniable love for his family.
Michael B. Jordan (Black Panther) stars as Sergeant Charles Monroe King, a soldier who is deployed to Iraq. He begins to keep a journal, which contains messages of love and advice for his infant son to read once he grows up.
The film also stars Chanté Adams as Charles’ wife, Dana, who lives at home in New York (NY) with their son. Dana is a New York Times editor, and appears to be a strong female character within this movie.
While at home, Dana thinks about her life, and how Charles becoming part of it made her immensely happy. She recounts the unlikely and life-changing relationship with her partner, and seems to constantly count herself lucky when she thinks about Charles and his complete devotion to her and their baby.
A Journal for Jordan looks to be a phenomenal, heart-wrenching tale of love and family, and how taking those things for granted will take happiness away from you.
The true story of Charles King is an account of the significance of love and devotion, and highlights the human cost of war.
The teaser trailer creates a loving yet melancholic atmosphere, as while Charles clearly adores his family and fights hard for them and his country, the very prospect of a man with a partner and infant at home in the midst of a violent war will always be hard to swallow.
We are shown themes of happiness, complete content, love and adoration combined with pain and war. A Journal for Jordan is clearly aiming for the most realistic story it can, and it seems that Jordan will do an outstanding job at portraying Charles as the hero he is.
In the first look images, we can see Jordan and Adams on a bench together, simply enjoying one another’s company. This is of course made either sweeter or more painful, depending on how you look at it, when we see Charles head out of NY and into the battle.
Another image shows Washington on set giving directions; given the actor’s appearance in many drama films, we can say with some certainty that this film will be done with excellence.
A Journal for Jordan will be in cinemas January 21st, 2022.
