Minions has become the second highest grossing animation movie of all time.
Minions continues to enjoy huge success at the box office and has leapt over Toy Story 3 on the all-time list.
The movie has taken over $1,080 billion since it was released earlier this summer and has overtaken Toy Story 3's total of $1,063 billion to become the second highest grossing animation movie of all time.
Minions is now only second to Disney's Frozen, which grossed over $1,279 billion when it was released back in 2013. Frozen is the most successful animation film at the box office and it remains to be seen if that will come under threat from Minions.
Minions is the most successful animation movie of 2015 and is the fourth film to gross over $1 billion - following in the footsteps of Jurassic World, Fast & Furious 7 and Avengers: Age of Ultron.
The movie is currently the fourth highest grossing movie of the year and the fifteenth highest grossing movie of all time - however it is quickly moving in on the total of $1,084 billion posted by The Dark Knight Rises.
However, it still has some way to go to make it to the top three most successful movies of the year - Avengers: Age of Ultron took $1,401 billion at the beginning of the summer.
Minions was the first time that we had seen the popular characters on the big screen since the success of Despicable Me 2 back in 2013 - this is their first solo film.
Pierre Coffin returned to the director's chair - having been at the helm of the two Despicable Me movies - and teamed up with Kyle Balda this time around.
Minions is comfortably ahead of his nearest animation rival Inside Out at the box office, as the Pixar movie has grossed $747 million worldwide so far.
Minions does look set to finish the year as the highest grossing animation film and it will certainly be one of the most successful movies at the box office in 2015. I think a sequel could well be on the horizon.
