Minions has made it three weeks at the top of the UK box office, holding off the challenge from comedy Ted 2.

Minions continues to thrill audiences and grossed a further £4.1 million over the weekend to retain the top spot at the UK box office. The movie has now grossed £25 million in just three weeks on release in the UK.

Ted 2 was this week's highest new entry but had to settle for second place behind Minions. The movie, which sees Seth MacFarlane and Mark Wahlberg return to the roles of Ted and John, grossed over £3.8 million to push Minions for the top spot.

Ted 2 comes three years after the success of the first film and sees Amanda Seyfried, Morgan Freeman, and Giovanni Ribisi join the cast list.

Jurassic World was a none-mover on the chart this week as it stayed put at number three. The movie has grossed in excess of $1,47 billion at the global box office and is currently the second highest grossing movie of the year so far.

Terminator Genisys was down two places from two to number four this week, while Magic Mike XXL was down just single spot from four to number five.

Documentary Amy was another one place faller this week at six, while Empire Strikes Back (Secret Cinema) was the second none-mover on the chart as it remained at number seven.

Spy was another movie that was on the way down this week as the popular comedy dropped two places from six to number eight.

Love & Mercy, which sees Paul Dano and John Cusack both play musician Brian Wilson at different stages in his life, was new in at nine.

Song of the Sea was a third and final new entry as it rounded off the top ten. Song of the Sea, which has already been nominated for a Best Animated Feature Oscar this year, is the latest offering from animation studio Cartoon Saloon and sees Tomm Moore back in the director's chair.
