Kate Mara reveals that she was surprised by the negativity toward the Fantastic Four before anyone had seen a trailer.

Mara is set to take on the role of Sue Storm when the Fantastic Four come back to the big screen this summer as the franchise is rebooted by director Josh Trank.

And while Mara and the rest of the cast did have to deal with some negativity, she says all that changed when the first footage was revealed.

Speaking to MTV, the actress said: "I was very surprised at first, before any trailers were out, how negative people were without seeing anything.

"Then that very quickly changed, when we actually showed some footage. So that was a nice thing."

Mara is no stranger to the big screen with the likes of Transcendence, Shooter, and 127 Hours under her belt in recent years, but Fantastic Four is set to be the biggest movie of her career so far.

A great cast has been assembled for the film, as Mile Teller, Jamie Bell, & Michael B Jordan are on board as Reed Richards, Ben Grimm aka The Thing, and Johnny Storm. Toby Kebbell has also been cast as Victor Domashev.

Fantastic Four is promising to be a darker and grittier movie than we have seen in this franchise before and I am excited to see Trank back in the director's chair.

Trank make his debut back in 2012 with Chronicle and this is his first film since he made that debut. Fantastic Four will see him reunite with Michael B Jordan, who starred in that directorial debut.

As for Mara, we are going to be seeing plenty of her on the big screen over the coming months as she has also completed work on Captive, Man Down, and The Martian.

Fantastic Four has not yet hit the big screen - I think it is going to be a success in August - but a sequel is already believed to be in the pipeline.

Fantastic Four is released 6th August.
