Jurassic World

Jurassic World has grossed over $1,513 billion at the global box office and has eclipsed the total of $1,511 billion set by Fast & Furious 7 earlier this year.

The movie, which was directed by Colin Trevorrow and was the first Jurassic Park movie since Jurassic Park III back in 2001, looks set to be a real contender to be the highest grossing movie of the year by the end of 2015.

Jurassic World also looks on course to leap from Avengers Assemble - which took over $1,519 billion, to become the third highest grossing movie of all time. However, it hasn't achieved that feat just yet.

It has been a bumper year at the box office this summer with Jurassic World, Fast & Furious 7, and Avengers: Age of Ultron all grossing over $1billion at the box office - they are the three highest grossing movies of the year so far.

It has already been a terrific year for Universal Pictures, which has set a new record for the a studio to reach $5 billion in the quickest time.

Universal Studios has reached that milestone in just seven months - breaking the record of eleven months set by 20th Century Fox last year.

Both Jurassic World and Fast & Furious 7 have dominated the box office this summer and, together, they have grossed over $3 billion worldwide.

Universal has two other movies inside the top ten highest grossing films of the year so far; Minions has taken over $625 million, while Fifty Shades of Grey also performed well with $569 million at the box office.

Jurassic World was one of the most anticipated films of the year and it really has delivered at the box office for the studio. I think we will see a sequel in the not so distant future.

Jurassic World is still playing at UK cinemas.
