Jai Courtney says that Suicide Squad re-shoots are not happening just to make the film funnier.
Re-shoots on the film are under way amidst rumours that they are to lighten the tone of the film after some criticism of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice last month.
Speaking to ET, Courtney addresses the rumours of the re-shoots saying; "I think there's plenty of [humour] in it. I wouldn't say we're going back to make it funnier, there's some additional action stuff that we've been doing, which is pretty dope. Really we're just kind of adding in that sense."
The movie sees Courtney take on the role of Captain Boomerang as he teams up with filmmaker David Ayer for the first time.
The actor is part of an all-star cast as Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, and Cara Delevingne are also on board.
The movie is set to expand the DC Universe even further and many of these characters are being brought to the big screen for the first time. We are also going to see Ben Affleck make a cameo appearance as Batman in the film.
Suicide Squad is the first time that we have seen David Ayer in the director's chair since Fury and it will be the first time that he has tackled the comic book genre. Personally, I cannot wait to see what he delivers. Ayer is known for his gritty movies and Suicide Squad does seem like the perfect fit for him.
The movie will come after the huge box office success of Dawn of Justice. The movie has already grossed over $700 million at the global box office but as struggled critically.
As for Courtney, he is currently working on his latest film project The Kaiser's Last Kiss. The movie is an adaptation of the novel by Alan Judd and sees David Leveaux in the director's chair.
Courtney is set to star alongside Lily James, Christopher Plummer, Eddie Marsan, and Janet McTeer.
Suicide Squad is released 5th August.
