It has been a while since we have seen Joaquin Phoenix on the big screen, but he is set to return in the new year with Inherent Vice.
Inherent Vice sees Phoenix reunite with filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson for the first time since The Master, in what will be their second movie project together.
The movie is a big screen adaptation of the novel of the same name by Thomas Pynchon, and will see Phoenix lead an all star cast.
Reese Witherspoon, Josh Brolin, Benicio Del Toro, Jena Malone, and Owen Wilson are just some of the other terrific names on board, and many of them feature in a series of great new images from the film:
Inherent Vice is a movie that could well find itself in the Oscar mix in the new year - it is currently being tipped for a possible Best Picture nod.
Anderson is no stranger to making Oscar success films with the likes of The Master and There Will Be Blood already under his belt.
When private eye Doc Sportello's (Joaquin Phoenix) ex-old lady suddenly out of nowhere shows up with a story about her current billionaire land developer boyfriend whom she just happens to be in love with, and a plot by his wife and her boyfriend to kidnap that billionaire and throw him in a loony bin - well, easy for her to say. It's the tail end of the psychedelic `60s and paranoia is running the day and Doc knows that 'love' is another of those words going around at the moment, like 'trip' or 'groovy,' that's being way too overused - except this one usually leads to trouble.
Inherent Vice is released 30th January 2015.
