Guardians of the Galaxy has become the third highest grossing Marvel film at the global box office.
We were introduced to the Guardians of the Galaxy for the first time in the summer when the movie was met with critical acclaim.
The film has enjoyed huge box office success and has now grossed in excess of $732 million at the global box office.
Guardians of the Galaxy was the second Marvel film to hit the big screen this year, following in the footsteps of Captain America: The Winter Solider.
Guardians of the Galaxy has now overtaken The Winter Soldier, which took $714 million by the end of its theatrical run.
The James Gunn directed movie now lies third behind Avengers Assemble and Iron Man 3 - both movies broke the $1 billion barrier in 2012 and 2013.
Avengers Assemble is the third highest grossing movie of all time on $1.518 billion, while Iron Man 3 is the sixth most successful film on $1.215 billion.
Guardians of the Galaxy has also become the fourth most successful film of 2014, behind Transformers: Age of Extinction, Maleficent, and X-Men: days of Future Past.
Transformers is the only movie to break the $1 billion barrier this year, but we could see Guardians of the Galaxy get close to the $757 million and $746 million totals posted by Maleficent and X-Men.
