Gina Rodriguez is in talks to star in 'Annihilation'.
Rodriguez could be set to join Natalie Portman in the futuristic gothic horror movie which tells the story of a biologist's secret and dangerous expedition, Variety reports.
'Ex Machina's Alex Garland will direct the movie which he also adapted from the first part of novelist Jeff VanderMeer's 'Southern Reach' trilogy.
ComingSoon.net describes the plot of 'Annihilation' as: "Area X: mysterious, remote, and concealed by the government as an environmental disaster zone for more than 30 years. But strange forces are gathering in this pristine wilderness protected by an invisible, deadly border. The secret agency known as the Southern Reach has sent in eleven expeditions to discover the truth about Area X. Now, the twelfth will attempt to succeed where all others have failed... This is the story of that twelfth expedition, narrated by the biologist attached to the mission: a reticent, misanthropic woman who brings her secrets to Area X."
Gina found fame in TV show 'Jane the Virgin' for which she won a Golden Globe award.
She recently landed a part in Mark Wahlberg's 'Deepwater Horizon', based on the offshore drilling rig Deepwater Horizon, which exploded during April 2010 and created the worst oil spill in US history.
