This week is once again filled with some exciting news stories; Neve Campbell may return for Scream 6, Nicolas Cage’s upcoming film gets a release date, and a familiar actor is reunited with a famed director. Read about all this, and more, below!
Neve Campbell is waiting on a Scream 6 script
Neve Campbell, who plays Sidney Prescott in the Scream franchise, has revealed that she has spoken with the producers of the sixth Scream instalment.
However, the actress is waiting to see the film’s script before she decides to return to the franchise or not; no cast members have been revealed as of yet, but Courteney Cox and Melissa Barrera have made their interest in returning known.
With filming expected to begin this year (2022), the movie could potentially debut next year (2023)...
David Dastmalchian reunites with Christopher Nolan for Oppenheimer
David Dastmalchian, who portrayed Polka-Dot Man in 2021’s The Suicide Squad, will be working with The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan on upcoming biopic.
This reunion comes 15 years after Nolan and Dastmalchian last worked together; Dastmalchian is the latest actor to be cast in Oppenheimer, a new feature focusing on those who were responsible for creating the Atom Bomb.
Other stars that have been cast in the movie include Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr. and Matt Damon.
New Nicolas Cage film gets 2023 release date
Upcoming Nicolas Cage monster movie, titled Renfield, has been given a 2023 release date.
Cage stars in the feature as Dracula, while co-star Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: First Class, Warm Bodies) will play his assistant; the film will follow Renfield, Dracula’s employee, as he struggles with his life with the monster known as Dracula.
There are rumours that the movie will release on April 14th, 2023, but this is yet to be confirmed. Though the specific date may be subject to change, the year is more or less set in stone. Also joining the cast is Awkwafina, Ben Schwartz, and Adrian Martinez.
Zazie Beetz is developing a Rapunzel sequel
Zazi Beetz, who played Domino in 2018’s Deadpool 2, and Sophie Dumond in Joker (2019), has announced that she is developing a Rapunzel sequel that she will star in.
Beetz and her partner, David Rysdahl, are working on an adaptation of Rapunzel, in which the actress will be starring in, and will reportedly have a huge afro.
Rapunzel hasn’t really had a lot of time in the spotlight, so it seems that Beetz is on her way to correcting that.
Disney’s The Haunted Mansion movie gets release date
Disney’s theme-park ride, The Haunted Mansion, is becoming a feature-film all over again that will star Tiffany Haddish (Night School) and LaKeith Stanfield (Get Out).
The release date is said to be in March of next year, but of course this is subject to change. The ride the film is based on takes guests through a fancy house and has a great mixture of scares and laughs.
The Haunted Mansion also stars Rosario Dawson (TV’s Daredevil and Luke Cage), Owen Wilson (Loki, Marry Me), and Danny DeVito (Matilda, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia).
Upcoming Star Wars feature set for 2023 despite delays
The next movie in the beloved Star Wars franchise, which is titled Rogue Squadron, will still be released next year.
There have been rumours regarding Patty Jenkins’ Star Wars movie, which has a December 2023 release date; it is known that there have been some issues regarding creative differences between Jenkins and Lucasfilm.
With the busy schedule the next few years will have in relation to film releases, the delay of Rogue Squadron would be by almost two years, which wouldn’t do the franchise much good as oppose to releasing in December of 2023.
Ryan Reynolds teases Deadpool 3 updates
Star of the Deadpool franchise, Ryan Reynolds, has stated that he will be able to share details on Deadpool 3 shortly.
Reynolds, who portrays Deadpool, aka Wade Wilson, hopes to discuss the franchise's future soon, meaning that some very exciting announcements should be on their way. The actor is, however, currently focused on the release of his Netflix movie, The Adam Project.
Despite the film not announcing anything set in stone as of yet, Deadpool 3 is definitely happening, and fans can’t wait to hear what Reynolds has to say about the next instalment in the franchise.
