This week is, unsurprisingly, filled with exciting film-related stories; the trailer for Jurassic World: Dominion has landed, a cancelled Ben Affleck movie gets a UK release date, and a cast member has been revealed for George Clooney’s new film. Read about all this, and more, below!
Simu Liu joins Barbie movie
Simu Liu, who starred as Shang-Chi in Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, has joined Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Barbie movie.
Liu will be joining The Suicide Squad’s Margot Robbie, as well as Ryan Gosling (La La Land) in the upcoming film directed by Gerwig, who also directed beloved 2017 movie, Ladybird.
Little is known about this feature at the moment, but given the A-list cast it has on board, it may not be a simple fan-pleasing film...
Black Adam teaser seen in new DC heroes trailer
Black Adam’s origin story has been teased in an all-new DC Extended Universe (DCEU) trailer that showcases this year’s (2022) best DC releases.
2022 is set to be a great year for DC, with The Batman, The Flash, Aquaman 2 and, of course, Black Adam set to release; the new DCEU trailer highlights all the most exciting bits of these films.
The video gives fans a brief look at Dwayne Johnson in the titular role, and fans cannot wait to see the anti-hero in his very own solo movie later this year,
Black Adam is set to release on July 29th, 2022.
Jurassic World: Dominion trailer has arrived
The trailer for long-awaited sequel, Jurassic World: Dominion, has finally landed.
The third, and supposedly final film in the Jurassic World franchise is on its way, and while being an exciting development for fans, the trailer also gives us a lot to think about.
Sam Neill and Laura Dern reprise their roles as Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler, respectfully, which gives the trailer a beautiful sense of nostalgia; Jeff Goldblum is also set to appear as Ian Malcolm.
The plot seems to be that, following Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), the world is overrun by dinosaurs that can now reproduce, creating quite a problem for the human race.
The film is set to release on June 10th, 2022.
Joel Edgerton cast in new George Clooney movie
George Clooney has cast Joel Edgerton (The Green Knight) in his upcoming film, The Boys in the Boat, which is based on a novel and follows a team of rowers during Berlin’s 1936 Olympics.
The feature is based on Daniel James Brown’s novel of the same name from 2013; with Nazi rule still present in Germany, and with their control over sporting events, the film follows the Washington rowing team that climbed their way out from rock bottom to become medal winners.
There is no release date for The Boys in the Boat as of yet, but more news is likely to come through very soon.
Top Gun 2 cast member promises sequel is worth the wait
Manny Jacinto, who plays Fritz in Top Gun: Maverick, has given an update on the sequel, promising fans that it will be worth the wait.
The upcoming sequel takes place over three decades after the original, which released in 1986; Maverick (Tom Cruise) must train a new group of Top Gun graduates who are set to go on the craziest mission ever attempted.
Jacinto stated, in an interview with Screen Rant, that “it’s been such a long time since we filmed that movie. But when it does come out, it’s gonna be worth it, guys!”
Top Gun: Maverick is scheduled to release on May 27th, 2022.
Cancelled Ben Affleck film gets UK release
Deep Water, a film starring Ben Affleck (Batman Vs Superman) and Ana de Armas (Knives Out), was produced in 2019 and pulled from theatrical release, but will now come out on Amazon in March this year.
The movie is set to follow the not-so-loving marriage between a man and woman whose rocky relationship has begun to affect those around them, even putting them in danger; the film is based on a novel of the same name by Patricia Highsmith.
The film suffered so many setbacks that it was simply removed from the schedule all together; now, however, Amazon Prime UK will be home to Deep Water in March, 2022.
Adam Driver and Penélope Cruz replace major actors in new film
Adam Driver (House of Gucci) and Penélope Cruz have joined Michael Mann’s new project, titled Ferrari.
Driver and Cruz have replaced Hugh Jackman and Noomi Rapace in lead roles for the movie, which is set to focus on the summer of 1957 when Enzo Ferrari (Driver) faces marital issues and financial problems.
There is no release date set for the feature just yet, but more news should be released soon.
