The Fast & Furious franchise has been going a long time, and each movie is packed full of more action than the last one. Now, news is coming in of casting choices for the forthcoming sequel, which includes some familiar faces.
Recently, news has come in of The Suicide Squad actress, Daniela Melchior, joining the already extensive cast of Fast & Furious 10.
Melchior, a Portuguese actress and model, portrayed Ratcatcher 2 in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad from last year (2021), which received largely positive reviews.
Melchior’s character became a fan-favourite, due to her humorous compassion and her brilliant acting, as well as her sweet relationship with King Shark (Sylvester Stallone, Steve Agee).
The Suicide Squad was Melchior’s first movie as an English-speaking character, after appearing in quite a few Portuguese films and shows.
Interestingly, she portrayed Gwen Stacy in the Portuguese-dubbed version of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018).
Fast & Furious 10, or Fast 10, is yet another instalment in the long-running franchise that began in 2001, with its most recent entry coming in 2021.
The Suicide Squad actress will be joining returning franchise actors, such as Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Michelle Rodriguez and Sung Kang.
Justin Lin previously sat in the director’s chair for Fast 9, and will be doing so again for the next instalment; he and Diesel will be returning to the franchise as producers.
As the movie’s details are being kept under lock and key for now, but many are keen to learn of Melchior’s role, as well as the narrative for the feature as a whole.
The Fast & Furious franchise is one of the highest-grossing film properties ever, earning a stunning $6.6 billion worldwide.
Many fans were both entertained by the franchise’s latest entry, but perhaps not in the way the studio intended.
While the actors played their characters brilliantly, as they always have, some scenes were dubbed unbelievable, even for this franchise, namely, Tej (Ludacris) and Roman (Gibson) going to space in a Pontiac Fiero...
Despite the films becoming a tad odder each time, there is no doubt that fans will flood to cinemas to see Dom’s (Diesel) latest action-adventure, and also to see what role Melchior is to play.
Melchior will be joined by another actor new to the franchise, DC’s Jason Momoa (Aquaman), whose role is also being kept secret.
Fast & Furious 10 is expected to hit cinemas on May 19th, 2023.
