Yesterday (December 7th, 2021), Metro Goldwyn-Mayer released a first look teaser for upcoming romantic drama, Cyrano, starring Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage.
Cyrano is an upcoming feature that is a reimagining of a play written in 1897 by Edmond Rostand. Joe Wright will be directing the heartfelt film in a charming way that incorporates beautiful music, poetry and the whirlwind that is love.
Cyrano, played by Peter Dinklage, dazzles and wows the crowds with his never-ending wit, or thrills them will his brave and entertaining swordplay in duels. He is a proud officer of the King’s Guard, as well as being a hopeless romantic who is also deeply (and secretly) in love with his friend, Roxanne (Haley Bennett).
Convinced that his looks make him unworthy of Roxanne’s love, when she falls head over heels with attractive new recruit Christian (Kelvin Harrison Jr.), Cyrano dreams up a way to tell Roxanne of his feelings, through Christian.
What conspires from Cyrano’s plan is a delicate love triangle that must reveal its secrets before war rears its ugly head...
The images revealed for Cyrano show a stunning, romantic setting with Dinklage’s Cyrano at the centre. The cinematography seems outstanding, and with a deep and interesting narrative that is sure to captivate audiences upon its release.
Dinklage, in the newly-released featurette, says that in regard to the characters, ‘love tortures them’, which alone speaks volumes about the movie itself. He also speaks about the film’s story being relevant to today’s attitude to love and life.
Music is an incredibly significant part of Cyrano, and the new clip highlights the work done by The National; the band who provided the musical skills to make the film even more impressive.
The cast of Cyrano appear to have a deep understanding of the film and their respective characters, and briefly discuss the movie’s relevance in society today.
The video also gives audiences a glimpse of some of the magical scenes they should expect. Viewers are shown behind-the-scenes shots, clips of some of the musical numbers, and the excitement and raw passion put into the project by those involved.
Cyrano will be in cinemas on January 14th, 2022.
