This week has been full of exciting movie news, such as Samuel L. Jackson and Uma Thurman reuniting for an upcoming feature, and Jackass 4.5 being teased by the cast of Jackass Forever. Read about all this, and more, below.
Bill Skarsgård cast in The Crow reboot
The reboot of The Crow is finally gaining some momentum, as IT star Bill Skarsgård has been cast in the titular role, with Rupert Sanders directing.
The Crow follows Eric Draven, a musician who, along with his fiancée, is killed by a random street gang. A year after their deaths, Draven is brought back to life and uses his superhuman abilities to exact justice.
The reboot has been in the pipeline for around 10 years, but now with Skarsgård, who has been praised repeatedly for his role of Pennywise, being revealed as the main star, there is reason to believe that more news on the upcoming film will be on its way rather soon.
Batgirl has finished filming
Directors of the upcoming HBO Max movie Batgirl, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, celebrate the completion of the film with a photo of them and Leslie Grace in her superhero costume.
This DCEU (DC Extended Universe) feature will be the first ever cinematic appearance of Barbara Gordon’s Batgirl. Grace recently starred in In the Heights, and with her breakout role being such a success, she was then cast as Batgirl.
The photo shared by Arbi shows himself and co-director Fallah with their arms around Grace, who is in full costume. Not much is known about the forthcoming film, but what we do know is that Batgirl will be going up against Firefly, played by Brendan Fraser.
Loki star cast in upcoming Kevin Hart heist movie
After her strong and commanding performance in Marvel’s Loki series, Gugu Mbatha-Raw will be playing the ex-girlfriend of Kevin Hart’s expert thief in upcoming Netflix film, Lift.
Netflix revealed the project last autumn (2021), which is based on a spec script from writer Dan Kunka. Hart is set to play a masterful thief who gets tricked into completing an impossible job on a Boeing 777 flight from the UK to Switzerland.
Mbatha-Raw will reportedly be one of the people, along with the FBI, who convinced her ex-boyfriend (Hart) to take on this risky job. Other cast members include Vincent D’Onofrio (Daredevil, Hawkeye), Billy Magnussen, and Paul Anderson.
Samuel L. Jackson and Uma Therman reunite for new feature
Stars of 1994’s Pulp Fiction, Samuel L. Jackson and Uma Thurman, will be reuniting for an all-new comedy-crime thriller, titled The Kill Room.
The forthcoming movie has been described as a darkly comedic crime thriller. The Kill Room has writer Jonathan Jacobson and director Nicole Paone (Friendsgiving) attached to the project.
The plot sees an assassin get tangled in a scheme that, somehow, becomes an unwitting sensation in the art world. Neither Thurman nor Jackson play the assassin at the centre of the story, and that information is yet to be revealed.
Thurman is the art dealer caught in the same scheme, and Jackson will be playing the hitman’s boss.
Jackass 4.5 deleted scenes teased by cast
The cast of this year’s (2022) Jackass Forever, aka Jackass 4, have teased some of the deleted scenes that will be making an appearance in Jackass 4.5, a feature-length collection of clips that didn’t make it into the film.
As many Jackass fans will know, after the release of each film comes a .5 version, which include deleted scenes and some brief cast commentary. While the announcement of Jackass 4.5 wasn’t a shock to fans, many are still excited to see more of the latest feature.
