This week’s movie news ranges from casting choices, to news of a fresh horror flick on the horizon. Read about all this, and more, below!
Shrapnel movie casts Cam Gigandet and Jason Patric
Cam Gigandet (Twilight, Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse) and Jason Patric (Narc), are set to star together in upcoming action feature, Shrapnel.
Filming for Shrapnel is currently ongoing, and is rumoured to focus on an ex-Marine named Sean, whose anger gets the best of him after his daughter goes missing while at a party.
Sean enlists the aid of an old friend, and the duo gets ready to take on a drug cartel to find Sean’s daughter.
The film has a brilliant cast and crew, so it should be very popular upon release.
Black Panther 2 has finished filming
Many cast members have confirmed that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has finally finished shooting, and should make its November 2022 release date.
Black Panther 2 has suffered a few unfortunate setbacks, such as the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman in 2020, as well as injuries suffered by Letitia Wright, who plays Shuri, which caused production to shut down.
However, now comes the positive news that the movie has wrapped, meaning that the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is moving ahead with perhaps one of its most exciting Phase Four projects, alongside Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Black Panther 2 is set to release on November 11th, 2022; hopefully no more issues arise and this film can release on time.
Gemma Chan to star in Anna May Wong biopic
Gemma Chan, who recently starred in MCU movie Eternals, has been cast in an upcoming biopic which will centre on Anna May Wong.
Wong was the first ever Chinese-American film star, who is known for being a global trendsetter, began her acting career in the silent era of movies. She starred in perhaps 60 films between 1919 and 1960.
This is a rather significant movie it seems, as it is always important to celebrate those who may not be known to wider audiences.
Chan seems perfect for this part, as she already adores Wong, and definitely looks the part of the beautiful actress.
A24 team up with Mandy director for new sci-fi horror
Panos Cosmatos, who directed the 2018 movie Mandy, starring Nicolas Cage, is back and working with A24 on his next film.
Cosmatos’ next feature will be titled Nekrokosm, and enlists the help of A24 to get the sci-fi movie rolling.
Sadly, there aren’t many details surrounding the forthcoming release, but hopefully soon Cosmatos will reveal something soon.
It is unknown as of yet if Cage will be joining the cast for this one, but seeing as though Mandy was a way for the actor to unleash his on-screen madness, and Nekrokosm may be the right film for Cage to do just that once again.
Nick Frost cast in new comedy, Seize Them!
It has recently been announced that Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz), Aimee Lou Wood (Sex Education), and Nicola Coughlan (Bridgeton), have been cast in new historical comedy, Seize Them!
As this feature is relatively new and hasn’t got much momentum as of yet, a very brief synopsis of the movie has been revealed.
The narrative of Seize Them! reportedly takes place in the Dark Ages, and centres on the toppling of Queen Dagan by Humble Joan.
The story will then follow the Queen as she attempts to reclaim her land. There is no release date set just yet, but the cast seems like a great mix, and the feature should be a great watch.
