UK School Kids To Become Film Critics With Filmclub

FILMCLUB, the free after school film club, has chosen 70 UK schools to act as film critics for the day as they judge a special
award category at internationally acclaimed The London Children’s Film Festival.

Thousands of children will decide who receives the award ‘Best FILMCLUB short’ and will watch seven films in total at their after school clubs, including an array of animated, and live action works from across the world.

The opportunity to act as film critics for day gave the FILMCLUB members a chance to submit their own reviews and debate the
merits of each film, with some schools receiving personal visits from the London Children Film Festival team, to discuss the workings of the acclaimed event.

Lucky FILMCLUB competition winners who took part in the 2000 plus strong panel will also be attending the closing gala for
the announcement of the FILMCLUB short award and will be treated like stars of the big screen themselves.

As VIP guests at the gala screening of new animated blockbuster Megamind, the children will be interviewed by press and rub shoulders with industry guests invited to the ceremony.

Like the London Children Film Festival, FILMCLUB encourages a  REEL adventure - where apart from watching great films and submitting regular reviews, FILMCLUB members get the chance to take part in film industry events like the London Children’s Film Festival, red carpet award ceremonies, star studded premieres.

Some of our lucky schools even receive personal visits from top industry talent like Harry Potter stars Tom Felton and Emma Thompson.
